What is an altered card?

This shop specializes in hand-painted full art Pokemon cards and full art Yugioh cards.

An altered card is an official card from an established Trading Card Game (TCG) that has been altered from its original appearance, generally, with art supplies. Cards in this shop are all altered cards that have been changed from their original appearance with markers, paint, craft knives or other art supplies. The description on each product page details the process for that card. Each card is done individually by hand, with great care.

It is not the same as an orica ("Original Card"), which is a custom-printed card. I do not offer any printing services or replicas of official art or my extensions. Any altered cards I sell are originals hand-painted on official product.

There are 3 primary ways of altering cards offered in this shop: extended arts (color matching the existing art of the card and carrying it to the border of the card), altered arts (painting a completely new image on the card), and etched cards (using a fine blade to create visual texture on the existing artwork).

I am not an authority on the use of altered or extended cards in tournament play--please check the current official tournament policy for your region, or contact your local Head Judge, to learn if your altered cards are allowed for use in tournaments.
